In September 2021, the Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust were able to support Jessica, an ILD Nurse Specialist, by funding her CBT Training for Physical Health Professionals & Palliative Care course. Jessica kindly wrote us a letter of thanks after she completed her course.
“I am an Interstitial Lung Disease Nurse Specialist, based in the South West. I recently applied to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust for financial support to allow me to complete a specialist training programme and I was delighted when they responded positively.
The course was in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is designed to help health workers support patients experiencing psychological distress related to physical health conditions. Since completing the course, I have already begun to practice some of the skills I have learnt and I am looking forward to developing these skills further.
It’s great to have something else in my toolbox to use for patients with ILD, who are dealing with life-limiting symptoms like breathlessness and fatigue, and the resulting anxiety and low mood.
Thank you to the staff, the volunteers and everyone who supports the Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust and has made this possible.”
